A Car for Juniors
We’d love to purchase an Austin 7 race car to be donated to the Austin 7 Club for the exclusive use of juniors (aged 17 and under) to get into historic motorsport. Our ultimate goal is to establish an Historic 750 Formula field for junior racers, but we have to start somewhere and getting a car that can be raced a events such as Historic Winton, Historic Hillclimb, All Historic Mallala, Rob Roy Revival, Eddington Sprints, and Geelong Revival is the first step.
The Austin 7 Club has access to a huge array of spare parts as well as a large number of mechanically minded people who would love to support the next generation entering historic motorsport; and if the idea works well in Victoria we’ll seek to expand it to other states.
Any donations will be gratefully accepted, from $1 whenever you can afford it, to donating an entire car (either financially or physically), we’re going to keep trying to make this happen until we have a full field of racers.
We’re aware that Austin 7 racers can vary greatly in price depending on condition, history and the whim of the seller; we consider our $25,000 target per car to be approximately correct, allowing for the purchase of a car and possibly some minor mechanical work. Any money remaining after a car is on track will be utilised for the purchase of another car for the same purpose.
