For the 5th round of state racing Michael was stationed at pit exit on the Friday and then in the rescue vehicle at pit entry for the remainder of the weekend.
The rescue vehicle was dispatched twice during the weekend. One of these was due to a flaming car entering pit lane. Michael was tasked to grab an extinguisher and wait by pit entry for the car to stop; unfortunately the car ignored him and continued down the lane resulting in the rescue vehicle following him and Michael having to walk to length of the lane. By the time he arrived on scene, Michael had missed the chance to tend to his first fire.
