Michael’s grandfather was a long-time member of PIARC and Michael wanted to become a member due to this. After enquiring about becoming a member and mentioning that he doesn’t race but is happy to officiate, PIARC recommended he do their introductory day despite already being involved with both flags and fire/rescue.
Michael spent some time at Lukey Heights with the flag marshals, helped at the pre-grid getting cars ready for release to pit lane and also got to view the tower before a significant incident on the main straight resulted in and early end to the day.
