Due to a lack of events in Victoria, Michael was eager to gain some additional motorsport experience and found that the Speed Series was being hosted at The Bend in South Australia. Being familiar with the drive between Melbourne and Adelaide, Michael booked accommodation at Murray Bridge (nothing was available in Tailem Bend) and went over for 3 days of GT racing.
The weekend was spent with the team from Women for Wheels (WFW) who operate the Fire & Rescue capacity at most South Australian events. With the track layout at The Bend allowing for the fire vehicles to easily meet with each other, the team rotate positions half way through the day. This meant Michael was baed at turn 6 and the underpass on the Friday; pit entry and the underpass on the Saturday; and turn 6 and the pit-entry on the Sunday. Whilst stationed at the underpass location the vehicle Michael was in performed some start chases and whilst at pit entry Michael was tasked to the fuel decanting for the GT cars between sessions.
